League of Legends: Nami inspired Make-Up Tutorial

Yay :3
Okay, as you have noticed I play League of Legends quite frequently. Also, combining the Girly and the "Nerdy" (pf, bloody casuals) is a big hobby of mine.
So, today's tutorial was inspired by Nami, the Tidecaller. Nami's competition for "T's favorite Champion" is not very big. There IS always Sona, which I love, but Nami is just more.. exciting.
And not only is she my favorite Champ concerning gameplay, she also has one of the most beautiful designs in the entire League.
Since I'm not big on cosplaying (because I'm just not talented enough for that), I like to pay tribute to my favorite characters in a different way: breaking up their color palette into a look that's wearable for other occasions than just a convention ;)

Ok, so here's my Nami look:
and let's jump right into the tutorial!
1) I started out by just putting on foundation and priming my eyelids
2) Then I applied a creamy golden eye shadow in the inner corners of my eyelids, up to about the center.
3) Right on the center of my eyelid I put a very bright green shadow. Mine is kind of matte, but since Nami is a fish, you could totally go for a more shimmery look if you wanted to.
4) Next you load up your brush with a dark teal color. I mean be really generous with this. The best way to apply this is by dabbing your brush on the outer V of your eyelid, and then take a fluffy brush to blend it into the other colors and little towards the outside.
5) For a bit of contouring/highlighting, use a matte bronze/rusty brown shadow and sweep it into your crease. Blend this fairly well to create depth (lower arrow). Then use a light greenish-golden color to highlight you browbone (upper arrow). See how that makes the look more dynamic and less flat?
6) With the same light color, highlight the inner corner of your eyelid and you tear duct. That will give you bright, cute eyes.

You should now have something that looks like picture 7. Now's where the fun begins! =) (I switched to lighter arrows to better demonstrate the dark colors)
8) Line your lower lash line with a bright blue. Try to find a tone that is almost glowing, like this one I'm using from IQ (products listed at the end, as always).
9) Take a very dark blue shadow and dab it just on the outer edge of your eye, and blend it up into the brown and also a little bit into your lower line from step 8.
10) Use a dark grey shadow (take Nami's armor for reference) and line your upper lash line with it. No need to wing it out too much, since there's already the dark blue shadow there.
11) Since I'm super incompetent with liquid eyeliner, I kept it very simple here, just doing the slightest of flicks at the end. I also only started in the middle of my eyelid, to keep the inner corners bright. If you want to, I'm sure a nice bold catline would look great as well.
12) Last but not least. In the splash art, they changed Nami's eyes to orange, but the ingame model's are still a pinkish red color. Because I can't put in contact lenses to save my life, I used a red lipliner (I cleaned it) as an eyeliner instead to represent them. Now you have to be careful with this, or your eyes will end up looking irritated. Just put it on the outer half of your waterline and you should be fine. Just to be on the safe side, I added my trusty light pink liner to the inner half.

So far, so good. So after that I basically just finished my facial make up with concealer, translucent powder and some bronzer for my cheekbones (I ended up putting my usual pink blush over it, because just the bronzer wasn't "me" enough I guess). I almost forgot putting on mascara, but just almost. Then I decided to do a gradient lip, which I achieved with concealer and lip stain.

And that's the finished look! I realize it's probably not appropriate for running errands and judging by the look the lady at the post office gave me, she didn't think so either, but it's a nice glamorous but colorful look for a night out or even a formal event.
Here's some more pics:
(by the way, I'm still working on getting the hang of my camera, so be nice :P)

Messing around with my camera. I just liked how this one turned out with all the mess I made on the table =D
Obligatory Crazy Eyes.

DRAMA!!!

And that's that. I hope you enjoy this as much as I did making it =)
Thank you so much for reading!

August Favorites!

Friday is blog day <3
I know, I'm a little late on this and also I haven't posted in a while, but I was kind of busy and hey - better late than never!
So let's get you up to date with my glorious life: The wedding was incredibly beautiful - I cried more than the bride did. Afterwards, the kids from Tacoma stayed at our house for a week and BOY do I still not like kids. Don't get me wrong, those three are really cute and all, but it was just really exhausting...
So I'm finally back in Vienna since Saturday and I'm super PUMPED for Uni to start again in October, I really am. I'm doing ballet with Anna again this semester, but I had to cut the choir out of my schedule, nor for lack of time, but because it would just make me too sad to go there. I also wanted to take a Hip-Hop course instead, but those are all at super inconvenient locations for me so I didn't =/ Maybe next semester.

Okay, enough with the talking already, let's jump into my August favorites!
I'm still getting the hang of my new camera, so no judging please xD
Ok here are my beauty/fashion favs for this month and because I forgot to put numbers on it I'll just explain about them left to right:
The alverde hydrating conditioner is something my mom happened to have at her place, so that's why I used it too. I did not expect it to be this awesome! Ok beside the fact that it's made all of natural ingredients, which I love, it also somehow makes my hair super shiny and soft and it's great. I had a feeling like it also makes my hair take on a curl better (!!!), so naturally I got it for myself once I was back here.
Then there's the GOSH natural blush in 43 Flower Power that I actually used all summer, because it's really strongly pigmented so a little bit of product goes a long way, also I thought the color was really summer-appropriate and THE NAME IS FUCKING "FLOWER POWER"!!!! I'm just sayin'..
Next we have the ANNIE nailpolish in 373.10 Lucky Surfer Girl which I did NOT end up wearing for the wedding, but all the rest of August I did =D. This beautiful pale yellow was kind of my Color of the Season, but I didn't exactly find a lot of clothing in that color, so I was really happy to have this polish, so I was able to add a little sunshine to every outfit ^o^
Ok this might sound weird, but the Compeed Invisible Fever Blister Patches saved my life this month. About once every year my herpes acts up and I get a fever blister somewhere around my lips and this year's was HUMONGOUS! My mom of course gave me like 5 different things to put on it (no kidding - it was at least five.) and those did great work too, but for going out it's just really nice to have something to put over it. I just feel much less uncomfortable wearing one of those.
Last but definitely not least: My awesome bow purse from Tally Weijl of all the things in this picture, this one deserves to be here the most, because I carried it with me literally EVERY DAY. It's just so much nicer, especially in summer, to have a white purse instead of a black one. It instantly makes the outfit look cuter and less dark. The only downside: I can't fit my sketchbook in there =( But I guess I won't have that problem once Uni starts again and I have to carry all my books and stuff. It was nice to have an August summer fling with this purse :3

Ok, as for my non-beauty favorites:
Song: f(x) - Rum Pum Pum Pum
Yes, I love K-Pop and I will not be ashamed! My new obsession are f(x), who are so very much easier to obsess over than SNSD, just because they're 5 people, and not 9 xD All five members of f(x) are just so likable, I couldn't ever decide who I like best. Maybe Victoria. Maybe. Anyways, I like all of their songs (I didn't at first, but they get better the more you listen to them... is that bad? xD), but Rum Pum Pum Pum is the one that started my craze.

Book: Marissa Meyer - The Lunar Chronicles
Oh God.
I KNOW how this looks, ok? At first I thought it would be dumb too.
Let me just explain. I finally managed to get to "A Dance with Dragons" yay! But I fell into the Song of Ice an Fire hole again, where I want to know what happens, but I just don't wanna read the book D= While still reading "A Dance with Dragons" I managed to read: All three of the Tributes of Panem books (Hunger Games for those who don't brain), the Tiffany Aching/Wee Free Men books by Terry Pratchett (well, I'm at "Wintersmith" currently) AND the first two books of The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer. Here's how that came to be: We went swimming while the kids were still staying with us, but I couldn't go into the water because I had a cold. So I still came along to watch the kids. I did bring my kindle with "Dance of Dragons" but I just couldn't be bothered to read that. So I happened to see the book Sega (the oldest) brought along - "Cinder" by Marissa Meyer. When I saw the cover I thought it would be some stupid Twilight knock-off, but then I read the blurb (TIL "blurb"), and it was about cyborgs and moon people and whaaaaaaaaat. So I gave it a go, and not 12 hours later I had finished the first book. I have to say the ending was not surprising AT ALL, I knew what was gonna happen right from the start, BUT it was great fun to read nonetheless, I loved the parallels to "Cinderella" and I have by now finished "Scarlet", the second book of the series. The next one will be out in February and I'm not gonna miss it, period.

Food: Blueberries
To say that those are my AUGUST favs is a COLOSSAL understatement. I have been buying blueberries non-stop ever since spring. I love love love those things, they're delicious and good for your body. This is the kind of food that I let myself obsess over freely. In fact, I'm having some right now. I'm serious. Blueberries. All the way.

Champion: Zyra
Oh yesssssss. I love her. Since I hardly ever play anything apart from support, I knew that sooner or later I would have to buy Zyra. I guess what stopped me from doing so was her design, which I just don't like. The whole pink-and-green and her stupid hair and OMG THAT EARRING, it's just repulsive to me. But then I realized: I can get the skin! Now I own Wildfire Zyra, which I think should more fittingly be named Volcano Zyra, and I'm super happy that I do.
First off, I think it's absolutely ok to let Riot have some money for their hard work. They provide everything else for free, ok? Also, like I said, I couldn't possibly play her classic skin.
So far I have been loving her as a support, she has great CC and still deals a good amount of damage, even with support items. Also: I love the skin ingame, the plants just look awesome.
At this rate Zyra might be up there with Nami and Sona at some point. Then again, she doesn't have a heal...

Anyways, that's my favorite stuff for last month! Let me know if you have ever tried any of it.
Thanks a lot for reading this crazy long post ^o^
Love
T.
